now, it's my turn to shout to the world about my preference. allow me to back track a little down memory lane...
my first gun was a 1911, a colt series '70. was using it for daily carry way back in 1992. few months later i was able to bought a bernardilli .22 cal 10-rounder pistol as a replacement of my daily carry .45 acp kay nagka bug-at ang akong dala nga bag. years has passed, i bought my first 9mm tanfoglio p19. acquire it when team tanfoglio won the team event during the 1999 world shoot held here in cebu.
in mid-2000 my old airsoft-shooting-buddy sir stock2 enticed me to join the gun club he affiliated with so we can join shooting competitions. we shifted from airsoft to the real steel. i joined using my 9mm pistol. a year after i bought my first hi-cap 1911 platform then bought a couple of SS 1911 year after that. NOW you think i don't want to own a GLOCK? wanted to acquire one but unfortunately when i decided to own a glock together with another airsoft-shooting-buddy sir stuka and brod wingwing the glock stocks were nowhere in sight, locally and the rest was history.
why did i decided to own a glock? just like the saying goes "you can't have the best of both worlds" however the best is already within reach, why not grab it?!
with 1911 and Glock, yes we can HAVE THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS |

Going back to the topic.... Lance, NO ARGUMENT on aesthetics for the 1911... as said, if you have the money then.... spent it to your hearts content. Just something on durability... between the glock and 1911. OK, TWO world wars na ang 1911 right? It should be the most durable gun in the world, right? Out of the box reliability right. I think masterchief offered a challenge on these two elements. His glock 17 against any out of the box 45cal preferably the Colt/springfield . Unsa kaha no if somebody will do a durability test on these 2 guns.
When we say durability it means - A STEADY DIET OF FACTORY OR RELOADED AMMO FIRED by specified gun. Not the date when it was designed. Kay kong mao na definition then mas durable tong mga single action revolvers used during the US civil war .(Na a pa na sa US) So to continue, a 1911model against the plastic glock. Na a ba kaha mo sponsor ini no. Unya to make it alegre, duna side BET between the .45cal fans and glock 17/22 fans. Calling on sirs Wing or Bob. Wing, what do you think? Doable in the future!! OR anything of this kind, being done in the US. Calling all forumites..... maybe there's a resource on this topic/test. |

yes, already it seems that the sponsor for the ammo is not going to be a problem, i think...
we would need at least 6 shooters (alternate kay kapoy baya), lots of mags and personnel to do the reloading..
hmmm, I'll guess we will have enough volunteers. hala, lets put this in the drawing board. |

yes.. but first requirement.. asa man ta og m1911a1 mil spec.
it just doesn't exist anymore... the newer 1911's gi usab na hapit tanan... even the tolerances.. and even the parts.. wa na gyud orig.
kana hinuon... paso paso gyud ta ani
simple ra kaau ang rules... una ma buak pilde |

delpey...
lig.on unta tong mga revolvers sa 1800 pero ang problema is what kind of ammo are they using? the 45caliber has remained unchanged all these years. mao nah.. ni survive ang 1911.
ayaw nang reloaded ammo... kay ma void ang warranty sa glock or basin ma kaboom na cya
there is 1 additional problem to all this... a 1911's original caliber is 45 and the glock's original caliber is 9mm
unsaon man nah nato...45 caliber and 9mm different kicks... and different amount of powder residues.
wasn't there a test done a 1911? bag.o lang.. a prominent shooter. ?
wing, klaroha na imong supplier sa bala ha... basin hinay og load.. dugay kaau ma buak atong mga armas ani... maybe we should get loads that are hotter... para kita gyud ang katag |

you cannot compare the present 1911 with the present glock. the 1911 has been modified from the original design of john browning.
the comparison should be the original milspec design of john browning. loose and rattling. very reliable.
!
|
In the tests for the next US Army pistol conducted in 1911 at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, the Browning-designed M1911 indeed outlasted the competition, with the trial pistol going past 6,000 rounds before a major malfunction occurred. Ngilngig no? 6000 rounds without a major istappids...
However...
In the tests the FBI conducted in the early 1990's before adopting the Glock, the Glock test pistols went past 30,000 rounds on average before a major malfunction occurred, besting the M1911's record by 500 percent!
Sus dia raman diay ni resource..... Milspec M1911 was tested by the US army pa gyud unya 6,000 rds raman diay NA TIKOY NA. Unya glock 17 lasted for 30,000 rds. Bisag elementary ka you will know the difference between 6,000 rds from 30,000 rds. So, next will test kanang state of the art 1911, like a springfield or kimber model kay mas bag-o unya tingali mas lig-on. I think Masterchief will welcome this offer... kinsa kaha ang mo offer sa iyang state of the art 1911. Sa una man kuno maliki... fights kaayo ni. I will already volunteer as one of the test shooters . I think wing mentioned he needs at least 6 shooters to do the test. Open pa ang next 5 slots... hurry guys. |

yes. masterchief did post this..
question?
what kind of stoppage? dirt? breakage? 9mm vs 45?
what kind of tikoy at 6000? mao na atong klarohon.
kanang 30000 rounds sa glock.. unsa man iya stoppage.
walay maka tobag... how was the test conducted?
copying text from the internet... will not prove one is better than the other one.
it's like comparing engines of cars by allowing them to rev hangtod ma buak ang makina. very unrealistic. I will not be convinced by such unrealistic tests..
you mean to say they shot the pistol side by side for that amount of ammo until 1 broke?? this is a pistol ! not a machine gun! no way will you shoot a pistol that way or rev an engine up to it's highest rpm until it breaks.... then again.. I could argue.. 9mm man nang isa... 45 ang 1911... hinay raman og buto ang 9mm. balahi na og 45 beh.. di ba bungkag nah.. see? it doesn't prove the pistol is better than the other. it just proves nga naay requirement ang govt and nakapasar cya sa ilang requirement.... specially the cheapest priced pistol part.
so any pistol that will shoot past 30,000 rounds is considered the best pistol? that's ridiculous. mao nay basis nga maayo ang pistol? bahala na bati og trigger? bahala bati og sights? cmon... guys.. you can do better than that...
Glocks VS 1911 - Shooter's choice... NOT THE ARMY'S CHOICE.
stick to the argument. |
