There was a disagreement, lets hear the arguments in this thread.... these two pistols occupy the top 2 spots in the most popular handgun ever...which is no.1 and which is no.2? lets find out...

Ako'y una...hehe....during the culmination of our S.O seminar last month, our instructor was about to demonstrate how to disarm a shooter who is visibly not anymore in control of his self... so he asked for someone to hand a gun to him to demonstrate....when somebody handed him a Glock, he bewailed...Glock AGAIN? CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME A REAL GUN? and then proceeded to mockingly request for a paper napkin as he gingerly handled the Glock....
that was his take...now lets hear the other side...hehe |

Your instructor is obviously bias with 1911s or he personally hates Glocks.
If we were to approach this in a more objective way, 1911s are all metal and Glocks are a mixture of metal upper and polymer lower. Gun reviews are usually done in a symmetrical manner, like comparing "all metal" to "all metal" or "ploymer" to "polymer" pistols. Another way of doing reviews is comparing which hand gun is the best in terms of caliber, single stack, high cap etc.. If you ask shooters here which one is their choice, you will probably get 3 groups of answers, 1- people who "personally" prefer glocks, 2- people who "personally" prefer 1911s and 3- people who prefer both in different ways or reasons (like me ). just my 2 cents worth... |

obviously Vic, obviously
when I was in high school, glocks were virtually unknown at that time...most of us kids...had the ONLY notion that 1911's were the best...lalo na idol namo si Philip Salvador in the movie Abner Afuang...
not to mentioned FPJ. funny, we really aped them at that time, even the gripping of the gun- strong hand holds the grip, weak cupping beneath the magwell
and then Mel Gibson's lethal weapon came along....ah....beretta napud...
and then Bruce Willis' Diehard showed in the theaters....ah Glock napud.
.....as an aside...I never realized till now..that lance is a fan of both FPJ and PHILIP SALVADOR...

apil ko ani, hehe i have used several guns in 1911 format i used to have a Glock 19 with full auto selector years back I sold the bitch then cuz the in- thing at the time was 1911 single stack until Para hicaps emerge and later STI. a few months back a friend sold me his Glock 19 (ni palit napud). one thing I like about the Glock is that it does'nt get easilly snag either in a bag or your clothing and it's lighter to carry, realiabilty is about the same compared with my 1911's. I find Glock easier to present or simplier to operate, my daughter can easily rack it. but I like both..... |

I almost bought a GLOCK! ALMOST! until I tried out a friend's glock 17. NEVER AGAIN!
yes... fans ko ni fpj ... katong gi ti.onan cya ni paquito diaz og 1911 waist level. and in one swift push and pull of the slide. na tang tang ang slide! ngiga gyud!
but until now.. wa pa gyud nako ni nabuhat.
you cannot compare the present 1911 with the present glock. the 1911 has been modified from the original design of john browning.
the comparison should be the original milspec design of john browning. loose and rattling. very reliable.
as kids we played with plastic guns... and now? PLASTIC GUNS AGAIN?
nowadays... 1911's are too commercialized with too many add-ons. these add-ons are supposedly custom jobs but shops make it appear that they're drop in.
custom weapon jobs are inherent in our macho image... do you think lapu-lapu used a common kampilan? (mao ni model sa sundang ni lapulapu) custom made tawn to parts!
the japanese have custom made swords for different class of warriors.
get a real gun! get a 1911! and not a bunch of tupperware guns! |

wow, grabeha naka bira ni Abner Afuang este Lance uy...
how bout wooden guns then? correction on Lapu-lapu's sword...IT WAS MADE OF WOOD and not metal...(thats a fact by the way).
but you're comment on the GLOCK-17 when you tried it was cut short....can you please expound why "NEVER AGAIN."...parts |

time pa ha, before we proceed, let me make it clear my choice too....... I WANT A GLOCK, I WANT A GLOCK ( to the tune of the song "I wanna rock")
I had experienced ownership and usage of 1911's from the officer to the commander to the standard....its a good gun.....haven't owned a Glock eversince,......suffice to say.... I WANT ONE...then observe it, bulikat it, borak it....
already, I can see possible negative aspects which would be markedly different from handling a 1911,
1. The 1911 is slim for daily carry, while the glock has thicker slides..thereby...my pants would be binat if I carry it inside concealement as what I'm used to.
2. The trigger pull might need getting used to.
But- The pride of ownership is different......CLASS kasi....any thug, rebel, gangster can have a 1911.
so again ladies.......SING...............I WANT A GLOCK, I WANT A GLOCK-GLOCK |

all in all(included those i sold before), i have/had 4 1911s and 5 glocks, so not much difference. every other year, mag-ilis ko ug carry, 1911 this year, glock the next etc.
regardless which gun the instructor was handed and does not like it, he should not have been very insensitive. what would that glock owner think and feel? gi look down tamas ginhawa iyang (as in IYANG) glock. if he really do not like glocks, he can subtly look for another FA. i'm pretty sure nagkinatawa didto sa room when the instructor said those things, murag joke ra. but for the other glock owners there, lu-oy. (pa napkin napkin pa. ma wa man ang respetar sa mga instructor...)
when he meant ''real gun',' kanang maka patay? so ang glock di kapatay kay not a ''real gun''? murag airsoft, not a ''real gun''. basin naay gusto mag pa testing dinha, i'll be glad to help |

kung ako ang patirahon. bisan asa nga pusil. igo gyapon
but i'd still say... a 1911 shoots better and handles better. |

Like what I said, I like and do have the best of both
Lan, I like how you analyzed and descibed the instructor. bisan ako ma wa ako respect niya...
both type of pistol has its pros and cons.
1911 vs Glock
weight - heavy vs light
trigger - short vs long with slack/creep
safety - grip/thumb vs trigger(none)
capacity - low vs high
accuracy - depends on shooter vs depends on shooter
you can go on but end of the day to each his own liking. I like both for different reasons |
